Located on Gharani Street—one of Tehran’s most iconic and historically active avenues—the design of this mixed-use building emerges as a response to its dense urban context. Gharani, situated in the heart of downtown, is surrounded by a dynamic blend of residential blocks, office towers, and commercial activities. Like much of central Tehran, it is marked by heavy traffic, high pedestrian flow, and significant air pollution

In approaching this project, one of the core design intentions was to soften and humanize the immediate urban environment through the integration of greenery within the building façade. Rather than isolate nature to the rooftop or interior courtyards, we chose to bring it forward—embedding it directly into the architectural skin. The result is a series of green terraces and vertical planting areas that aim not only to improve the building’s microclimate but also to contribute a sense of vitality to the surrounding streetscape

Given the high levels of pollution and dust accumulation in this part of the city, darker facade materials were intentionally selected. These materials are more forgiving of environmental wear and help the building retain its visual integrity over time. The yellow metallic framing elements offer contrast, rhythm, and a subtle vibrancy that prevents the overall massing from becoming too austere

The building includes commercial functions on the ground floor and basement level, addressing the active street life and economic demands of the area. Above these, flexible office spaces are organized to respond to the hybrid nature of the neighborhood

In its essence, the project seeks to balance the rawness of urban Tehran with moments of relief—through greenery, proportion, and thoughtful materiality
