Maral

Maral

This residential building in Tehran blends tradition and modernity through a poetic play of form, material, and craft. The façade’s rhythmic brick arches rise vertically, giving the structure a sculptural presence while recalling the elegance of Persian vaults and iwans. Soft curves replace rigid geometry, creating a sense of continuity and flow that contrasts the dense urban fabric around it. The warm texture of handmade brick is complemented by the cool, serene tone of Iranian turquoise ceramic tiles—an intentional dialogue between earth and water, solidity and reflection. These blue-glazed elements, wrapping the entrance and landscape edges, act as a visual and symbolic grounding, referencing the ancient Persian affinity for water and garden culture. The architecture balances nostalgia and innovation—rooted in the language of Iranian heritage yet articulated with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
